WITH JACK GRAHAM & BILL FORTNEY




The Graham/Fortney Spring 2019 Photography Symposium is for photographers of all levels and abilities, and their family and friends. There will be vendors giving away free grab bags, drawings to win photography excursions, a raffle to win a camera, and more! Whether you want to learn how to take wow-worthy photos on your camera phone, or you’re ready to refine your skills as a professional photographer, this event has something for you. Artists who want to learn how to take better quality reference photos for use in their artwork can learn how at this symposium. If you’re ready to go from taking bland photos to creating art with your camera, register now!


 


FRIDAY NIGHT 6:00PM - 8:00PM

1) Bill and Jack will present 2 short inspirational image presentations (Shows)

2) Jack and Bill will do a program “BACK to BASICS” … Our Favorite Images and How and Why We Made Them

3) Final image presentation (Show)


 

SATURDAY MORNING 8:00AM – 12:00PM

8:00AM – 9:45AM BILL FORTNEY: “LIGHT and COLOR”s

Light and color are the two most important factors when it comes to making stand out images. Bill will discuss different aspects of light and color, and how to properly use them to convey feelings and emption in your images


15-MINUTE BREAK

10:00AM – 12:00PM JACK GRAHAM: “THINKING in MONOCHROME”

Monochrome is not our reality. While photographing in monochrome, one can adjust the brightness, shadows and contrast to their individual liking, just as we can with color, but the unexpected often is stronger to the viewer.

You will learn why monochrome delivers a different feeling since our everyday world is made up of colors.


Lunch 12:00PM - 12:45PM

SATURDAY AFTERNOON 1:00PM -- 5:00PM

1:00PM – 2:15PM BILL FORTNEY:

FOUR MUST HAVE PARTS to EVERY SUCCESSFUL IMAGE to a GREAT IMAGE

Besides your choice of aperture, shutter speed Bill will go in-depth and talk about 4 “things” that EVERY image must contain for it to be successful. Yes, all 4!


15-MINUTE BREAK

2:30PM – 4:00PM JACK GRAHAM:

BECOME an ARTIST……. NOT JUST ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER

Jack will giver an inspirational talk about what it takes to be an artist, not just another “Camera Owner” He will discuss the aspects that can make one create art as well as the disciplines to follow and the pitfalls to avoid when aspiring to become an artist. You will come away with a new perspective on the artistic aspect of photography. This is a great way to end out day!

Jack and Bill will be available during the raffle and vendor times for any questions, comments you may have.


4:00PM – 5:00PM

RAFFLE AND DRAWING FOR THE SUNDAY MORNING SHOOT IN SNOW CANYON


 

Yes, there will be plenty of technical information discussed over the course of the symposium, however our area of focus is more than technical aspects of photography. In all our presentations we’ll be discussing seeing, visualization, and the aspects besides the technical part of photography that make images successful and artistic. All programs will have a 10-15-minute Q & A after the presentations.
